Here at The Thames Concrete, we recognise that we should all be doing our bit to help the planet. The world is changing rapidly, and sustainability is important to ensure the prosperity of not only our business, but also our community and society as a whole.
Our mantra is to minimise waste and we follow all BS 8500 guidelines to ensure we’re complying with all industry sustainability guidelines.
As industry leaders, our mission is to work in the most sustainable way possible to serve the local DIY and commercial construction market across Slough, Uxbridge, High Wycombe and the wider areas of West London, Middlesex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey.
To achieve this vision, we’ve established three sustainability goals that our strategy is built on.
Reduce our environmental impact
We utilise more sustainable production methods to minimise the environmental impact of concrete production, reduce carbon emissions and conserve natural resources.
Maintain social equity
We understand that our responsibilities extend beyond just producing concrete. Our main goal is to become a trusted name in our local community by upholding ethical business practices, promptly addressing any community concerns and ensuring all employees and clients feel valued.

Innovation is at the heart of our operations and we’re continuously exploring new methods and materials in an attempt to set new, more sustainable industry standards.
Our Initiatives
So how are we hoping to achieve our sustainability goals? To make this vision a reality and promote sustainable construction, we take the following initiatives.
- Sustainable materials: We utilise sustainable materials that are recycled, reclaimed or locally sourced to promote eco-friendly construction, reduce the demand for natural resources and minimise landfill waste.
- Energy-efficient operations: We carefully track our carbon footprint and implement energy-saving practices during our manufacturing process, using quality equipment and renewable energy sources to achieve a reduction in our energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Low carbon concrete: We focus our efforts on developing low-carbon concrete mixes to ensure we’re producing fewer carbon emissions during production and decreasing our environmental footprint.
- Meet all environmental standards: We’re committed to meeting all environmental standards and regulations during the process and we keep abreast of the latest industry developments, including studies by the MPA (Mineral Products Association), as the demand for sustainability increases.
